WorkSafe BC – Raise Your Hand

Not only do we know the most serious injuries in the workplace happen to young workers, we also know that they will be the change for the future. Raise Your Hand empowers young workers to ask for help if they feel unsafe on the job.
Inspired by 70’s activism and culture, the campaign expresses the psychedelic feel of a grassroots movement around worker rights. Because every movement needs an anthem, we created an original song along with a music video. Raise Your Hand connects with young workers through online and social media channels and at popular youth cultural events throughout the province in the summer. The anthem was played at every event, and people were invited to create their own videos by lip-synching to the song. Participants could also make personalized Raise Your Hand buttons, either on the spot at events or online at the website. Together, all of the buttons create a huge digital hand online, which represents visually the growth in the movement and the success in engaging young workers.
